The UNF is proud to present the book “NOS BATAILLES POUR L’ENVIRONNEMENT”, co-written by Corinne Lepage, founder of DDHU, and Christian Hugo, available in bookstores since April 28, 2021.
Law is a force. The development of environmental law is one of the crucial issues in the evolution of our society in order to safeguard the habitability of our planet and to protect living things.
This affirmation is the common thread of the unwavering and unwavering commitment of Corinne Lepage and Christian Huglo who for 50 years have worked for the advent of an environmental law that can stand up against the violence of the world and the economic powers. inclined to crush everything in the name of special interests.
Through the pages of this book and the cases which are told, dissected and analyzed, the authors reveal to what extent, thanks to the action of judges, the creativity of lawyers, the responsiveness of scientists supporting citizens and elected officials, locals determined to protect themselves from industry’s assaults on the environment, this right has been able to establish itself not only as a real strength, but also as an important vector of innovation in our societies. Inertia, even blindness to what lies ahead, still remains the rule of dominant political action.
However, qualified as a legal tsunami, the Grande-Synthe judgment rendered on November 19, 2019 by the Council of State, applied by the judgment rendered on February 3, 2021 by the Paris administrative court, recognizes the climate deficiency of the State and therefore hence its responsibility.
The book, written with a breathtaking pace, is a precious tool for legal professionals who will be able to rediscover the remarkable legal and procedural ingenuities deployed by this couple of lawyers to safeguard the interests of those they defend and, in so doing, of the whole society. But it is also a salutary message for all citizens: by telling the story of what was and continues to be the construction of environmental law, a law constantly undermined, Corinne Lepage and Christian Huglo reveal to what extent it is fundamental to mobilize and never give up whatever the obstacles and forces present.

In the nick of time when Africa was on the right path to turn its impressive economic performance into a sustainable level of economic and social development, the COVID-19 pandemic invaded the continent and quickly tilted it into a worst economic, social and humanitarian crisis. The pandemic is disrupting millions of livelihoods, affecting poor households, diverting government revenues, damaging the private sector, the informal economy and the entire production systems; and deteriorating international trade and financial flows to the continent.
In addition to the policy actions at national level to contain the spread of COVID-19 and mitigate of its socioeconomic impact, the African Union, under the leadership of H.E. Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, the Chairperson and H.E. Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the African Union Commission has been at the forefront of the fight against the pandemic by coordinating the activities and raising resources to strengthen the continental response to COVID-19, maintain economic activities and revive African economies….

The UNF sends its sincere condolences on the death of the Emir of Kuwait Sheik Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
In power since 2006, the 91-year-old Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, died in the United States on Tuesday. He had been hospitalized since July across the Atlantic, after undergoing an operation in his country.
On behalf of all our members, we wish to offer our condolences to the family of the deceased who was a man of dialogue.
Under the rule of Sheikh Sabah, Kuwait remained discreet, but its financial capacity made him an often essential player on the Middle Eastern scene. Sheikh Sabah has long headed Kuwaiti diplomacy, a position that allowed him to familiarize himself with all the greats of this world and to play this role of mediator, hailed by all.
