Art and Diplomacy Unite at the Historic Pavillon Henri IV

Art and Diplomacy Unite at the Historic Pavillon Henri IV

The Pavillon Henri IV, a prestigious hotel and restaurant classified as a historical monument and overlooking the Seine Valley with an exceptional view of Paris, continues its tradition of celebrating art by hosting remarkable painting exhibitions under the patronage of the Union Nations Federation (UNF).

At the initiative of Charles Éric Hoffmann, owner of the Pavillon Henri IV and Ambassador of the UNF, two exceptional art exhibitions have been organized – one dedicated to Gérard Prévost and the other to Foued Mokrani.

Gérard Prévost: The Journey from Figuration to Abstraction

The exhibition dedicated to Gérard Prévost highlights the artist’s abstract universe, known for his successful transition from figurative painting to a contemporary expression rich in emotion and texture.

Born in 1952, Prévost began his artistic career after studying photography, developing a passion for charcoal and pencil drawing as well as figurative painting.

His early works depicted Parisian streets and doors, later evolving into oil paintings exploring the human body – works that earned him several exhibitions.

After a creative interlude in graphic design and as Art Director of Glint magazine (dedicated to art, photography, and beauty), Prévost returned to painting with renewed energy.

His abstract compositions, marked by contrasts of shadow and light and a tactile use of material, invite viewers on an introspective journey.

Foued Mokrani: Between Humanity, Dreams, and Symbolism

The second exhibition features Foued Mokrani, a Tunis-born (1979) and Francebased self-taught artist whose singular style belongs to the realm of outsider art. His works – a blend of acrylic on canvas, collage, and ceramic relief – explore human relationships and the connection between man and animal, whether real or imaginary.

Drawing inspiration from ethnic art, travel, and daily life, Mokrani’s creations stand out for their vibrant colors, rich textures, and free-form expression reminiscent of Carlo Zinelli, Bill Traylor, or Victor Brauner.

Breaking away from academic conventions, his art is instinctive and deeply personal. His works have been exhibited in France and abroad, including in Canada, and he enjoys a growing international following on social media (@fouedmokrani_the_mantiss).

Art in a Royal Setting

“These exhibitions are part of the cultural programming of this emblematic venue, where Louis XIV was born. Visitors will discover a selection of works that reflect the artists’ imaginations within a royal and panoramic atmosphere – an ideal setting for artistic immersion,” said Christophe Giovannetti, President of the Union Nations Federation (UNF).

He added: “The UNF is proud to welcome artists whose creativity and commitment contribute to building a better world. Art, like diplomacy, is a universal language of peace and humanity.”
